Launch Dance FAQs

What is the age requirement for participation?
Dancers ages 14-23yrs are considered for acceptance. Dancers should demonstrate advanced skills in ballet, be adaptable and accessible to movement discovery, maintain focus, and able to handle a rigorous schedule. Acceptance is limited to 50 to ensure each participant an opportunity to work intimately with the professional artists.

How will I know if I am accepted?
Audition results will be sent via email within 2 weeks of submission.

If accepted how do I secure my placement in the festival?
You will receive all of the paperwork you need to finalize your registration in your acceptance email. Simply send in the registration paperwork along with the deposit. Once we receive your paperwork and deposit you will be sent a confirmation that your placement is confirmed.

Can I get a refund of my deposit if I choose not to attend?
No. The deposit is non-refundable.

What is an example of the daily schedule?
Approximately 8 hours a day M-F half day on Saturday and Sunday off. The first half of the day is spent in the core technical training classes of ballet and modern. Supplemental classes in a variety of genres will be offered in addition. Dancers also have the opportunity to participate in weekly seminars and personal consultations with the professional artist. 3 hours of each day will be spent in choreographic labs with the representing choreographers and companies.

What are the weekly auditions like?
The representing choreographers for the week will hold auditions on Monday of each week. The style of audition will vary with each choreographer. Each student will be chosen by one of the choreographers to work in a choreographic lab creating work to be performed at the theater at the conclusion of the festival.

Will each students work with all of the choreographers and represented companies?
Each student will have the opportunity to work with each choreographer and represented company in the choreographic labs and/or the technical training classes.

How do I get from the dorms to the studios each day?
Bus Transportationto and from the studios is included in the cost of housing.

I see there is no food service at the dorms. Are there grocery stores near by?
Yes Whole Foods market is located a very short walk from the studios. There are also many shops and restaurants within a 5 minute walk from the studios.
